Dealing With Diabetes

By Zachary Justice

There are more than 2000 people who are diagnosed with diabetes everyday in the USA. Type II diabetes, the most prevalent form of diabetes worldwide, often shows few or even no symptoms.

After eating, food is broken down into what is known as glucose, a sugar carried by the blood to cells throughout the body. Glucose is then changed to energy in the cells by insulin, which is secreted by the pancreas.

People with type II diabetes can't use insulin properly, so there would be a problem in converting food to energy. This will later cause the pancreas to be unable to make enough insulin for the body. The amount of glucose in the body increases, and the cells are starved of energy.

This depletion of energy can be very harmful for the body. This will lead to kidney disease, nerve problems, blindness, and heart problems.

There are a lot of factors that can help to attribute to diabetes cases, lifestyle, environment, heredity, and those who are at risk should be screened regularly to prevent diabetes. People who are diagnosed with this condition should try to keep their glucose levels normal.

But how do you know if you have type II diabetes? After all, it can have few symptoms or no symptoms in some patients. Be alert for signs like increased thirst or hunger, a change in weight, or blurred vision.

Your blood glucose level will improve even by eating right and keeping your weight within normal ranges. Your doctor may give you some medications to better control the glucose, though.

Diabetes is a serious ailment with extreme consequences if it isn't treated properly. You can keep your body healthy by following your doctor's advice.
